My Ideal Beginning of Summer

I finally arrived at my homestead - and this time, I get to stay for two whole months!

It still feels unreal to live this “Siedlisko life” for real, not just in plans and quick visits.

Mornings start with the smell of forest air and the sound of birds that seem to begin their day much earlier than I do. I walk outside barefoot, coffee in hand, and it hits me again - this is mine.

Freshly picked strawberries on a weathered wooden table in the warm light of a summer sunset.
Evening light, homegrown strawberries, and that quiet satisfaction of “this is mine.”

I’ve been cooking breakfast with chanterelle mushrooms picked that same morning in my little patch of forest. Fried with eggs and fresh dill from my garden - they taste like pure summer. For dessert, there’s quark with strawberries and blueberries, the kind of simple meal that makes you forget restaurants ever existed.

My dream days in the homestead have finally arrived. Silence has a different quality here. It’s not empty - it’s full of life, small rustles, the hum of insects, and the occasional frog jumping somewhere nearby. My head is resting. My senses are wide awake.

Finding mushrooms on my own land felt like a small miracle - a sign that the soil, the trees, and I are beginning to cooperate. I strung them up to dry, feeling oddly proud of this first tiny harvest. These are my first supplies for the winter - humble, but deeply satisfying.

A quiet lake surrounded by a dense forest, reeds, and a small blue boat partly hidden in the grass.
A hidden lake nearby - reached through a pine-scented forest and always worth the walk.

And then there’s the discovery: a hidden lake, not far from here. You reach it by walking through a sunny pine forest that smells of resin and summer. The path leads to a quiet, secret place surrounded by reeds, where dragonflies hover over still water. I can’t think of a better escape - or a better reward for months of hard work.

Welcome to my summer at Siedlisko!

My loyal supervisor - watching over every planted tree and freshly dug spot.

See these first summer days at Siedlisko - full of forest walks, morning harvests, and quiet moments that make time slow down.
