One short visit to my allotment, a few handfuls of soil under my nails, the smell of rhubarb baking in the oven - and just like that, my energy came back. The spring season is officially open. Here in Ireland, in my little garden, and also in Poland, in my Siedlisko.

My early spring allotment ready for the season, and rhubarb ready for the first harvest

Join me in my Irish garden as I plant the first potatoes and bake my first rhubarb crumble of the year. Simple things, really - but they bring such joy. The kind that fills you from the inside out.

Most days are full of serious topics and endless to-do lists. There’s always something to solve, decide, or arrange. But the moment I open the gate to my allotment and step onto the garden path, my mind quiets. I take a deep breath of the fresh, fragrant air, and suddenly I’m exactly where I need to be.

It’s a wonderful feeling - to have this little piece of the world, to enjoy simple things: a bit of sunshine, the song of birds, and the touch of soil on my hands.

Winter felt so long this year.

But now, finally, it’s over - and everything starts again.
